Cookbook Author Incorporates Central Florida’s Natural Resourses in Her Recipes

“The Bounty of Central Florida” by Valerie Hart

Although Hart’s cookbook incorporates Central Florida’s regional foods, I found that I am able to get the majority of the ingredients in Texas – even Key Limes. I only found one item, Wood Duck, that is solely regional, but Hart gives the option to substitute Quail or Cornish Hen.

Perusing “The Bounty of Central Florida” my attention was drawn to Key Lime Cheesecake. It is rich, but light, and full of flavor. The Pecan Crust makes an ideal base for this cheesecake. The Best Flaky Pie Crust is short and browns well, however, makes a larger batch than indicated. For brunch, the Low Fat Blueberry Coffee Cake is ideal and goes well with a freshly brewed cup of coffee. The Chiffon Cake took be me back to my childhood when my mother made one for every Sunday. Rich and creamy is the Hollandaise Sauce and very easy because it’s made in a blender giving it a guaranteed smooth texture.

The Rose Cookbook by Laura Denktash - Book Review

When is a rose no longer just a rose? My answer to that question is, when it becomes something amazing to eat and drink. I have always been enamored with my namesake. Roses are simply beautiful to look at. Their scent is tantalizingly exquisite. And when I take them and transform them into an incredible edible something truly magical happens.

Roses have been grown and adored for centuries. They were very popular with the ancient Romans. Rose petals were used in cooking to make a variety of puddings and sorbets. Roses were also used to flavor wine. As the influence of the ancient Romans spread to other cultures, the use of roses in cooking grew. Those influences can still been seen in many of the traditional dishes prepared in Turkey and the Middle East.

Since I am a professional chef, I am always looking for recipes and ingredients that I can use to create an exceptional dining experience for my customers.  Summer is almost in full bloom and I was looking for something that would be light, delicious and in harmony with the season. So, you can imagine how thrilled I was when I found The Rose Cookbook authored by Laura Denktash.

The Best Grilling Cookbook Hands Down

There are a great number of books that claim to be the Best Grilling Cookbook but there are only a few that are worth reading. The Best Grilling Cookbook should not only include recipes and cooking techniques; it should be a complete and in-depth guide to the art of grilling. 1. The Thrill of the Grill: Techniques, Recipes, & Down-Home Barbecue by Christopher Schlesinger and John Willoughby

2. Born to Grill: An American Celebration by Cheryl Alters Jamison & Bill Jamison

Fantastico! - Modern Italian Food - Gino D’Acampo

Way to man’s heart is his stomach. Cooking good food is an art. However, not all are blessed with the talent but one can always perfect it by watching cookery shows and reading cook books.

Gino D’Acampo’s Fantastico is a great book to learn different delicacies in simple ways. This book consists of some amazing recipes, straight from Gino D’Acampo’s kitchen. The best feature of this book is not only it has finger licking recipes but also a touch of Gino’s buffoonery that makes it a must read for all food lovers.

What makes this book an entertaining way of learning great cooking tips is apart from healthy food, Gino has guts to use cheese and cream that he is extremely fond of. The ingredients used by him are all easily available in local market.

Gino’s vegetarian section is wonderful. The recipes not only taste good but are also easy to prepare. He has included his specialties like the Italian-style Shepherd’s Pie and Cornish Pasties, Moroccan-style pasta and a Chinese-influenced Italian Broccoli Stir-fry. His chicken recipes are high on taste and are ready in just half-an-hour’s time.

The Ultimate Vegan Cookbook

While reading The China Study was the single biggest motivating factor in my adopting a vegan diet, “Veganomicon” was the book that has sustained me through the transition from meat-eater and has become a fixture in my kitchen.

Veganomicon, which bills itself (rightly so) as the Ultimate Vegan Cookbook, is the product of Isa Chandra Moskowitz and Terry Hope Romero, who also wrote “Vegan with a Vengeance” and “Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World”. The pair also created the PostPunkKitchen (theppk.com) vegan recipe website, where you can find some teaser recipes from the Veganomicon book.

My partner and I have tried about 40 of the dishes in Veganomicon, some several times, and our copy of Veganomicon (covered with numerous post-it notes and splatters of various sauces) is never far from our sides or minds.

One of my goals was to attempt all of the 250 recipes in the book. However, we’ve enjoyed the recipes we’ve tried so much (our favorite being “Baja-Style Grilled Tempeh Tacos”), it’s difficult to find reasons to try new ones.

Among our many other favorite recipes are:

Authentic Italian Cookbooks

Most Italian recipe and cookbooks are not at all authentic. You might eat some tasty meals, but they most certainly won’t be anything like the cuisine of Italy.

I was amazed when I moved to Italy ten years ago to find that certain dishes like Pasta Alfredo don’t even exist in Italy. Ten years later I am much the wiser.

With the help of my Italian wife I have selected some of the most wonderful books on Italian cooking. These books we have selected using our ten years of experience of life in Italy. In our opinion they contain superb cooking tips, great recipes but that is not all…

Much more than just recipes they also offer a window onto a wondrous world. Explore a vibrant colorful country, a country where food is an essential part of the Italian way of life. These books leave you not only hungry and with a desire to start cooking, they also leave you with a hunger to journey to the villages, markets and country towns so lovingly portrayed.
